You must have the following documents with you when you apply and pay for a Missouri driver license, instruction permit, or nondriver license.

New Missouri Resident (with an Out-of-State Driver License)

checkmark Out-of-State driver license (valid, or expired no more than 184 days). If the out-of-state license is lost/stolen/destroyed, you may instead submit a current Clearance Letter from that state.

checkmark Acceptable documents to verify name, date of birth, place of birth, social security number, and Missouri residential address (click here for details about acceptable documents).

NOTE: IF you are upgrading your driver license, take the above documents to a MSHP examination station when you take the written, vision, and road sign tests, and or driving test.

New Missouri Instruction Permit/Driver License (First-Time Driver)

checkmark Driver Examination Record (DOR-100) from the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) indicating successful completion of tests (not required for Nondriver license)

Duplicate (Replacement) Driver License

checkmark One identification document

It is preferred, though not required, that the document include the applicant's photo such as a work, military or student ID card.  If a document with a photo is not available other documents that may be used include, but are not limited to: a social security card; document reflecting name and date of birth; or document reflecting name and signature.
