The vendor that provides the service for processing E-Check and debit/credit card transactions charges a standard fee in addition to and separate from the renewal fee charged by the Missouri Department of Revenue. What makes me eligible for online renewal?
In order for you to be eligible to renew your license plates online, your county collector must provide paid personal property tax records for your county to the Missouri Department of Revenue. At this time, your county collector may not participate in the online personal property tax reporting system. Click for a list of participating counties.
Not all vehicle registrations currently qualify for this program. For instance, if your registration renewal is for specialized license plates, you will not be able to use the MORE system to renew your license plates, as there are additional documents that must be verified (i.e., emblem use authorization statements cannot be verified by our online system at this time.)
Note: When a new county comes online with the Missouri Department of Revenue, it will be at least two months before the county's residents receive a PIN on their renewal notices, making them eligible for the online renewal process.
Can I renew the registration for my boat, motor, and trailer online?
No. At this time, only motor vehicle registrations can be renewed online. In the future, the department plans to expand online registration to include renewals of boat/vessel registrations and disabled placards.
Can I renew my three-year trailer plates or ATV decal online?
No, you cannot renew your three-year trailer plates or ATV decal online at this time. A PIN will be recorded on your three-year trailer plate or ATV renewal when the online system is available for you to renew the registration on these units. Please check our website before your next renewal because we will be increasing the capacity of the MORE system in order to process these types of renewals in the future.
Can I renew plates for my truck that is licensed for 54,000 pounds or above online?
No. You will not be able to renew online because the department does not have online verification of payment of your Federal Heavy Vehicle Use Tax.
Why is the online license plate renewal system unable to verify that my vehicle is insured?
Not all insurance companies currently provide the Missouri Department of Revenue with their paid insurance records.
I paid my personal property taxes, but the online license plate renewal system is unable to verify the payment. Why?
This could be due to one of the following reasons:
- Your county's personal property tax records have not been provided to the department; or
- You paid your personal property taxes after your county collector had already sent the records to the department; or
- You did not enter the information from your personal property tax receipt exactly as shown, including any spaces, commas, periods or dashes.
My license plates expire in just a few days. Will I receive my renewal stickers in time if I renew online?
You can renew your license plates online up to the last day before your vehicle registration expires. At the end of your online transaction, you can print a temporary vehicle registration receipt
that is valid for up to 30 days or upon receipt of your plates/tabs in the mail. This receipt must be carried in your vehicle, so you can present it to law enforcement upon request.
My renewal notice for my leased vehicle has a PIN, so why can't I renew online?
The Missouri Online Registration Exchange (MORE) system is unable to verify personal poperty taxes for leased vehicles, so these renewals cannot be processed online.
My renewal notice contains a PIN, but my vehicle is exempt from emissions inspection (mileage-based or GVWR exemption). Why can't I renew online?
The Missouri Online Registration Exchange (MORE) system is unable to verify emissions exemptions, so these renewals cannot be processed online.
