Director of Revenue Announces Tentative Contract Agent for Mount Vernon

JEFFERSON CITY – Missouri Department of Revenue Director Trish Vincent today announced the tentative agent appointment for the Mount Vernon contract office.

“I am excited to announce this appointment,” said Vincent.  “Customer service is the department’s number one priority, and I know the Mount Vernon Area Community Foundation shares the same commitment.”

As part of a new process recommended by Gov. Matt Blunt, agents are required to submit a business plan demonstrating their commitment to meeting the needs of Missouri citizens.  This “Contract Agent’s Plan for Success” outlines details from financial responsibilities to office operations.  The Plan for Success also formalizes each agent’s vision for carrying out the technical responsibilities of the contract.

The contract requires agents to hold Saturday office hours, establishes penalties and financial responsibility for errors, sets notary law as a standard of operation, and requires agents to submit all deposits and reports each day to the department.

Contract offices serve Missourians by conducting department business for a per transaction fee as defined by state law.

The Mount Vernon Area Community Foundation’s appointment will not be final until a completed contract is in place.  The department is working with current and new agents to offer continuous service wherever possible.  Individual office locations, hours of operation, and scheduled transition dates will be published as contracts are finalized.
