Concealed Carry in Missouri Closes in on Third Anniversary
CCW endorsement must be renewed every three years
JEFFERSON CITY – As the state’s Concealed Carry law closes in on its third anniversary, the Missouri Department of Revenue has started mailing renewal reminders to more than 13,000 Missourians whose Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) endorsement expires this year. A CCW endorsement may be obtained on a Missouri driver license or nondriver license if the applicant meets qualification requirements.
Beginning on July 1, 2004, the department began issuing driver licenses or nondriver licenses with the CCW endorsement to individuals who qualified for the privilege. The qualification process is administered through the county sheriffs of Missouri. To obtain a CCW endorsement, an applicant must present a Concealed Carry Certificate of Qualification to a driver license contract office. This Certificate is issued by the county sheriff after ensuring the applicant meets the eligibility requirements set by state law (beginning at Section 571.101 RSMo).
The Concealed Carry endorsement is valid for three years and must be renewed to remain valid. The endorsement’s expiration date is printed on the front of the license.
