Columbia Tax Assistance Center To Close
JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Department of Revenue announced today that the Columbia Tax Assistance Center at 1500 Vandiver Drive will close permanently on Friday, June 15. Of the department’s eight tax assistance offices, the office in Columbia handled 7,791 phone calls and 4,045 walk-ins during the 2006 fiscal year, almost 10,700 fewer contacts than any other tax assistance office.
The office closing will provide the department an opportunity to focus resources on operations in Jefferson City, moving six positions to the department’s Central Office.
Columbia area individuals and businesses needing Missouri state tax assistance can visit the department’s Jefferson City Tax Assistance Center located in the Harry S Truman Building at 301 West High Street, Room 330, or call (573) 751-7191. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The department’s Tax Assistance Centers offer tax return preparation assistance to taxpayers and can answer technical questions relating to any of Missouri’s business taxes. Customers can also register for Missouri business taxes or obtain a Missouri retail sales tax license at any of the centers.
