Department of Revenue Announces Excise Tax to Enhance Customer Service Unit

JEFFERSON CITY – Today the Missouri Department of Revenue (Department) announced that the Department’s Excise Tax unit in Jefferson City will move from Knipp Drive to the Truman Building. The move will be complete June 24.

“This move of our Excise Tax unit will continue to streamline the Department’s operation,” said Director of Revenue Omar Davis.  “By bringing this unit to the Truman Building, we can provide better customer service by having all of the Department’s services in one central location.”

Beginning June 24, the Excise Tax unit will be located in Room 330 in the Harry S Truman State Office Building at 301 West High Street. The last day of business at the current location, 3400 B Knipp Drive, will be Monday, June 23.

The Department’s customers may visit Excise Tax for help with consumer motor fuel refund claims, to purchase cigarette decals, and to obtain motor fuel, cigarette, or other tobacco products tax licenses.  Department office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  To contact Excise Tax please dial (573) 751-2611 for motor fuel tax; (573) 751-7163 for cigarette tax; (573) 751-5772 for other tobacco products tax or (573) 751-7671 for consumer motor fuel refunds; or customers may e-mail the Department at excise@dor.mo.gov.
