Eminence, Licking, Ozark, Princeton, Rock Port & Shelbina License Offices Latest To Undergo Competitive Process
JEFFERSON CITY - Six motor vehicle license offices located in northern and southern Missouri are the latest to have their management contracts put up for bid as part of Gov. Jay Nixon's plan to increase the offices' efficiency and accountability.
"When people walk into a local license office, what they care most about is how quickly and accurately they can get their driver license or license plates renewed," Gov. Nixon said. "Customers don't care about the political affiliation of the person running the office, and neither should the state. The comprehensive bidding process implemented by my administration, and recently ratified by the Legislature, lets any person or group bid for the right to run an office, and the customers will be the ultimate winners."
The six offices put up for bid this week are in Eminence, Licking, Ozark, Princeton, Rock Port and Shelbina. Interested bidders will have five weeks (or until September 8) to reply to the Request for Proposals (RFPs) released this week by the Office of Administration.
Alana M. Barragán-Scott, acting director of the Missouri Department of Revenue, noted some of the criteria that the department will review when it evaluates the bids.
"Employee experience, a solid business plan, good customer service, financial stability, an accessible, secure office location, and, if possible, a return of some of the profits to the state, are the criteria that matter the most," she said.
Copies of the RFPs that bidders will use to develop their business plans for the offices can be viewed at https://www.moolb.mo.gov/.
