Linn License Agents to Retire; Office Will Remain Open Until Bidding Process Determines New Agent
LINN - The current agents for the Linn License Office have decided not to bid to retain the management contract for the office. However, the office will remain open until a new agent is chosen.
The current agents for the Linn office are Terry and Lawrence Rudroff. Terry Rudroff submitted a proposal to retain the right to run the office when it went up for bid earlier this year. However, Mrs. Rudroff, who was the only bidder to submit a proposal under the new bidding system, has decided to no longer pursue the permanent operation of the office.
Since Mrs. Rudroff was the only bidder for the office, a new Request for Proposal has been issued by the Office of Administration. Individuals or groups interested in operating the Linn office will have until Jan. 7, 2010, to respond to the state's proposal. The Missouri Department of Revenue will then review the bids and choose a new agent based on the quality of the bids.
The Linn License Office is located at 1205 E. Main St. In Fiscal Year 2008, the office conducted 14,815 transactions and generated $49,290 in local agent processing fees. A copy of the state proposal that bidders can use to develop their bids can be viewed at https://www.moolb.mo.gov/. To review a proposal, select "Guest" on the home page, click on "Open Bids By Agency," then scroll through the list of bids until the appropriate one is located. (The bid number for the Linn office is B3Z10143.) Additional information regarding the bidding process can be obtained at http://oa.mo.gov/purch/vendorinfo/DORoffices.pdf or by calling the Office of Administration at (573) 751-2387.
Common transactions that are conducted at local license offices include renewing or applying for a driver license, renewing or applying for registration on motor vehicles, boats and outboard motors, and applying for titles and paying sales taxes on these units.
"I'm hopeful that one or more bidders will come forward with quality proposals to run the Linn office," said Alana M. Barragán-Scott, director of the Department of Revenue. "I know the citizens of Osage County appreciate being able to get their driver licenses and license plates renewed at a local office, so I'm confident that a person or group will bid to ensure that these services continue to be provided in Linn."
