Interested Bidders Will Have Until Sept. 9 to Submit Proposals to Manage Gallatin License Office

JEFFERSON CITY - Interested groups or individuals will have until Sept. 9 to bid to operate the Gallatin License Office.

The Office of Administration issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) on Thursday asking for bids to manage the office.  The office was closed on Wednesday after the state canceled the contract with the former agent of the office.

Alana M. Barragán-Scott, director of the Missouri Department of Revenue, explained how the bidding process will work.

"People or groups interested in managing the license office will have five weeks to respond to the Office of Administration with a bid," she said.  "All of the bids are then evaluated by a review team at the Department of Revenue, and the proposal that scores best in the areas of customer service, business experience, office location and other criteria is the one that is chosen."

During Fiscal Year 2009 (July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009), the office conducted an estimated 12,195 transactions and generated about $40,396 in agent processing fees.  The office is located at 400 N. Main St., Suite 1.  Potential bidders can propose to keep the office at the current address or submit another location in Gallatin.

Common transactions that take place at local license offices include renewing or applying for a driver license, renewing or applying for registration on motor vehicles, boats and outboard motors, and applying for titles and paying sales taxes on these units.
