New Agent Selected for Kansas City License Office

JEFFERSON CITY - The Kansas City Motor Vehicle and License Office in downtown Kansas City will soon have a new management team.

The Paul J. Wrabec Co., Inc. will be the new agent for the Kansas City License Office.  The winning proposal was chosen as part of a competitive bidding process that is used for all of Missouri's 183 local license offices.

The winning bid by the Wrabec Co., which is located in Sugar Creek, was one of two submitted for the Kansas City License Office.  The Wrabec Co. has prior experience in operating license offices, as it has been the agent for the Independence and Sugar Creek license offices since 2009.

The Kansas City License Office will remain at its current location within the Fletcher Daniels State Office Building, 615 E. 13th St., Suite 111.

According to figures from Fiscal Year 2011, there were 98,955 transactions conducted at the office, and it generated about $350,800 in agent processing fees.

Bidders have the option of returning part of the office revenues to the state.  Wrabec's winning bid includes a 3.6 percent ($12,628) annual return to state that will increase to 6.4 percent by the fourth year of the contract.

All local license offices provide services that are overseen by the Department of Revenue, but each office is operated by an independent agent.
