Two Area Restaurant Owners Sentenced for Non-Payment of State & Local Taxes

JEFFERSON CITY - Scott A. Chervitz, of Ballwin, MO, has pled guilty to two felony counts of failing to file and pay state and local sales taxes for his Napoli Pizza restaurant in St. Peters, MO.  Chervitz was placed on five years of supervised probation and ordered to pay total restitution of $46,207. 

Sherri Poff, of O'Fallon, MO, has pled guilty to two felony counts of failure to file and pay state and local sales taxes for her Masterpiece Bar-B-Que restaurant in Chesterfield, MO.  Poff was placed on five years of supervised probation and ordered to pay restitution of $26,023 in monthly installments of $433.

The Missouri Department of Revenue's Criminal Tax Investigation Bureau investigated the cases and they were successfully prosecuted by the St. Charles County and St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorneys' Offices.
