March 16, 2009New Fee Agents Chosen for Hannibal, Moberly Motor Vehicle License Offices
JEFFERSON CITY – Using a new bidding process, the Missouri Department of Revenue today chose new fee agents to manage two northern Missouri motor vehicle license offices.
The license office in Hannibal has been awarded to Donald R. White of Hannibal. The license office will remain at the 21 Northport Plaza location.
The license office in Moberly has been awarded to Doug Galaske of Moberly. That office will also remain at its present location, 209 North Clark Street.
Details about the operating hours of the offices will be announced by the new fee agents.
Hannibal and Moberly are the first two offices to have their management chosen using a new bidding process that was implemented when Gov. Jay Nixon took office on Jan. 12. The new system calls for people and/or groups to submit detailed bids to obtain the management contracts to operate the offices. The Moberly office received two bids and three people bid on the Hannibal office.
Karen King Mitchell, director of the Missouri Department of Revenue, said the process has gone well.
“The teams evaluating these bids were looking for the best business plan for each office,” Mitchell said. “I am proud of how thorough and conscientious the teams were. I’m also glad that the Hannibal office will be able to reopen soon since the former agent chose to close the office in late February.”
All 183 local license offices provide services that are overseen by the Missouri Department of Revenue, but each office is operated by an independent contractor. Transactions that are conducted at these offices include the issuance and renewal of driver licenses and the issuance and renewal of motor vehicle license plates.
