Department of Revenue Reopens St. Louis, Joplin Tax Assistance Offices

JEFFERSON CITY

The Missouri Department of Revenue has reopened its St. Louis and Joplin Tax Assistance Offices. The St. Louis office is located at 3256 Laclede Station Rd., Suite 102, and is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Joplin office is located at 1110 E. 7th St., Suite 400, and is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Tax experts are available to provide assistance with business tax registration, no tax due assistance, accepting payments and accepting completed returns. For other services, such as income tax compliance, corporate income tax questions, and lien/garnishment resolution, customers will be connected with a Department tax employee in Jefferson City. While the St. Louis and Joplin offices are not providing preparation services for individual income tax or property tax credit returns, Department employees can help connect customers with the appropriate tax preparation resources.

“Recognizing what a void the closure of our Tax Assistance Offices left, we worked hard last year to reopen the Jefferson City location, bringing back the valuable face-to-face expert assistance Missouri taxpayers have come to know and count on,” said Joel Walters, director of the Missouri Department of Revenue. “As part of the Department’s continued efforts to enhance the level of customer service we provide, we are pleased to announce our St. Louis and Joplin Tax Assistance Offices are once again open, and our staff is available to answer taxpayers’ questions.”

The St. Louis and Joplin Tax Assistance Offices were two of seven such offices that closed in 2014. The Jefferson City Tax Assistance Office reopened in December 2017. The Department is currently working to get the Kansas City and Springfield Tax Assistance Offices reopened by early April.
