Motor Vehicle/Driver License System Changes
The Department is excited to announce the implementation of the driver license portion of our new motor vehicle and driver license system, supported by FAST Enterprises. This launch is part of a two-phase, fully modernized system that will offer additional, easier to navigate e-services, mobile identification credentials, increased efficiency, streamlined transactions and provide overall better customer service. The Motor Vehicle implementation is scheduled for July 2026.
FAST Enterprises is a leading software consultant with over 20 successful system implementations. Missouri’s new innovative system is another step towards the Department’s vision to provide every customer the best experience every time.
Driver License Services Now Available on MYDMV
- Create a MyDMV account to access your driver license, nondriver ID, or instruction permit information.
- Remote renewal is available to those meeting the following eligibility requirements:
- Must be age twenty-one to forty-nine years of age.
- Must have a United States citizenship document verification indicator on file.
- Persons with USCIS issued immigration documents must apply in person and submit documents for review and SAVE verification at the time of application.
- Driver license or noncommercial permit applicants must provide information confirming completion of a vision examination within twelve months prior to renewal application.
- Prior application must have been an in-person application. Only one remote renewal will be allowed between in-person applications.
- Credential must be eligible for renewal. Valid or within 184 days after the expiration date.
- Must meet driver history evaluation criteria, which includes record information from Missouri and any other reporting state that would deny issuance.
- Online application for a duplicate driver license, nondriver license, or non-commercial permit is available to those meeting the following eligibility requirements:
- Must be more than 184 days prior to the expiration date.
- Must have a valid Missouri credential.
- Must have a United States citizenship document verification indicator on file.
- Persons with USCIS issued immigration documents must submit documents for review and verification at time of application.
- Must meet driver history evaluation criteria, which includes record information from Missouri. Any other reporting state would deny issuance.
- Drivers may be denied a remote duplicate if the last application was a remote application. Limitations on the number of remote applications between in-person visits will be applied.
- View the status of a given driver license number.
- Check the mailing status of a Missouri driver license, nondriver license, or instruction permit.
- Pay driver license reinstatement fees, review reinstatement requirements and upload reinstatement documents.
- Request online driver records.
- Submit a new medical examiner certificate for your CDL driving privileges.
- Subscribe, update, or unsubscribe to notifications from the Missouri Driver License Bureau.
- Schedule a driver test appointment with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

You will soon have the added convenience of keeping your driver license or identification card directly on your phone! Watch for additional information to be released in 2025!
July 2026 - Motor Vehicle Modernization
- Titling, plate renewals, and registration will transition to our new system. This will allow for additional e-services related to your motor vehicle needs, and real time updates on transactions.
- A one record system will allow you to have access to all your motor vehicle and driver license records through a single account in MyDMV! Renew your driver license and see upcoming vehicle renewals in a single session!
- Motor vehicle dealers will have the ability to collect sales tax at the time of sale.
- The Department will be able to run periodic comparisons on all current motor vehicle registrations to verify valid motor vehicle insurance and identify uninsured motorists.
- Technical Advancements/Long-Term System Stability: The new modernized motor vehicle and driver license system will replace current aging outdated software and replace nearly 50 disparate systems.
- Improved Online Options: Additional e-services will be available for Missouri residents to start and complete some transactions online.
- Customer Convenience: Residents will have the ability to view and manage their motor vehicle and driver license credentials in one customer centric portal.
- Real Time Updates: Contract license office and online transactions will be immediately accessible by Department of Revenue and law enforcement agencies for verification, review, and approval.
- Customer Service Resources: Upgraded equipment will be provided to all contract license offices to improve the quality of credentials issued by the State of Missouri, Motor Vehicle and Driver License Division.
- Current driver license/nondriver ID card expiration dates will not change with the new upgraded solution.
- The hours of operation and location of license offices will not be impacted after this implementation.
