New Agent Selected for Kingston License Office

JEFFERSON CITY - The Kingston License Office will soon re-open and have a new agent.

Janet K. Maloney of Hamilton, MO, will be the new agent for the license office.  Maloney, who has experience in retail sales and corporate training, was chosen as part of a competitive bidding process that is used for all of Missouri's 182 local license offices.

The winning bid for the license office was one of two submitted.  The office will stay at its current location in the Caldwell County Courthouse at 49 E. Main St. in Kingston.  The office has been closed since Jan. 31 because of the resignation of the former agent for health reasons.

According to figures from Fiscal Year 2011, there were 12,207 transactions conducted at the office, and it generated $41,446 in agent processing fees.

Bidders have the option of returning part of the office revenues to the state.  Maloney's winning bid includes a 1 percent ($414) return to state.

All local license offices provide services that are overseen by the Department of Revenue, but each office is operated by an independent agent.
