Department of Revenue News Release
February 07, 2012
March 2 is Deadline to Submit Proposals to Manage Kingston License OfficeJEFFERSON CITY - Interested groups or individuals will have until March 2 to bid to operate the Kingston License Office in northwest Missouri.
The Office of Administration recently issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) asking for bids to manage the license office. The ability for people or groups to bid to run local license offices is part of a reformed competitive process that requires the Missouri Department of Revenue to choose office agents that present the best proposals for customer service and financial efficiency.
The local office has been closed since Jan. 31 after the former agent, Lisa Prater, advised the Department that health reasons would prevent her from continuing to run the office. The RFP notes that the license office must be located within the city limits of Kingston. The former office location was at 49 E. Main St., and bidders can either propose the former location or a new location within the city. People interested in submitting a bid to run the office may take a tour of the former facility at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
During Fiscal Year 2011 (July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011), the Kingston License Office conducted 12,207 transactions and generated about $41,446 in agent processing fees.
Common transactions that take place at local license offices include renewing or applying for a driver license, renewing or applying for registration on motor vehicles, boats and outboard motors, and applying for titles and paying sales taxes on these units.
A copy of the RFP that bidders will use to develop their bids can be viewed at https://www.moolb.mo.gov/. To review an RFP, select "Guest" on the home page, click on "Open Bids By Agency," then scroll through the list of bids until the appropriate bid is located. (The bid number for the Kingston office is B3Z12138.)
