Richmond License Office contract awarded

JEFFERSON CITY - The Office of Administration, in conjunction with the Missouri Department of Revenue, has awarded the management contract for the Richmond License Office to the Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce. All license office contracts in Missouri are awarded through a competitive bid process.

The Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce has been the contractor of the Richmond License Office since 2009. The office will move to a new location at 111 N. Thorton.

In fiscal year 2013, more than 23,000 transactions were conducted at the Richmond office, generating nearly $80,000 in agent processing fees. The Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce's contract includes an annual commitment to return 2 percent (approximately $1,593) of future processing fees to the state.

All local license offices are overseen by the Missouri Department of Revenue, but each is operated by an independent agent.
