Tax Records
Tax Records
Tax information maintained by the Department of Revenue is not an open record subject to disclosure through a Sunshine Law request. §§ 32.057, RSMo, and 610.021(14), RSMo. However, the Department has created forms which can be utilized to receive your own tax records or that of another if the requester is properly authorized.
To get a copy of your own Income tax return or property tax credit claim, please use Form 1937. Please return it directly to the Taxation division per the instructions on the form.
In order for the department to release confidential tax information, you must have a Form 2827 Power of Attorney or the individual must provide a release on your behalf, which can be done using a Form 8821. Please return the relevant form directly to the Taxation division per the instructions on the form.
