Show Me Green Sales Tax Holiday
Section 144.526.1 creates the "Show Me Green Sales Tax Holiday." Beginning in 2009, during a seven day period starting on April 19th and ending April 25th, sales of qualifying Energy Star certified new appliances will be exempt from state sales tax. Local jurisdictions can choose to participate in the Show Me Green Sales Tax Holiday.
The Department of Revenue will no longer send out courtesy rate notification letters for the Back to School Sales Tax Holiday, Show me Green Sales Tax Holiday, or the Quarterly Rate Notification Changes to inform taxpayers within your taxing jurisdiction of a rate change.
Information concerning the rate change, including the new rate, and access to the sales and use tax rate table is available on the Department’s website at dor.mo.gov/business/sales/, under the “Sales/Use Tax Rates” section.
The Department encourages customers to file their business tax returns through their MyTax Missouri Portal account online. The correct rates will be provided on the electronic return for each location. If you do not have an account, visit https://mytax.mo.gov and select ‘create an account’ on the main login page. If you choose not to obtain a MyTax Missouri account, you may still file your sales and use tax returns electronically as a guest.
