Missouri law requires that all driver training programs offered in the state shall include instruction concerning law enforcement procedures for traffic stops, including a demonstration of the proper actions to be taken during a stop and appropriate interactions with law enforcement. Additionally these provisions require that driver training enrollees be provided information by the Department of Revenue pursuant to Section 302.176 RSMo. Pursuant to Section 302.025 RSMo, “driver training programs” include private driver training programs and programs taught by an instructor with a valid driver education endorsement on a teaching certificate issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

The Department has developed the What To Do When You Are Stopped and Responsible Driving Brochure (Form 5006) that includes information regarding the dangers of operating while in an intoxicated or drugged condition, procedures for drivers related to traffic stops and appropriate interaction with law enforcement, and their constitutional and other legal rights.
