Interested Bidders Will Have Until Dec. 17 to Submit Proposals to Manage Warsaw License Office

JEFFERSON CITY - Interested groups or individuals will have until Dec. 17 to bid to operate the Warsaw Motor Vehicle and License Office.

The Office of Administration issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) on Friday asking for bids to manage the office.  The office, located at 237 W. Main St., will remain open under the guidance of the current agent, Wanda Brown, until at least through the end of the year.

Brown was recently elected to be the new state representative in the 116th House District.  She will be sworn into her new office on January 5th.  At that time, she will have to relinquish her role as agent in accordance with state laws that prohibit members of the state legislature from performing services for state agencies.

Alana M. Barragán-Scott, director of the Missouri Department of Revenue, noted that the transition from Brown to another agent should go smoothly.

"Wanda has done an outstanding job as the agent for the Warsaw office, and the Department of Revenue wishes her the best in her new role as a state legislator," she said.  "People or groups that are interested in managing the office will have until Dec. 17th to submit bids to the Office of Administration, and the proposals will then be evaluated by a review team at the Department of Revenue.  The proposal that scores best in the areas of customer service, business experience, office location and other criteria is the one that will be chosen."

During Fiscal Year 2010 (July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010), the Warsaw office conducted an estimated 35,838 transactions and generated about $120,005 in agent processing fees.

Common transactions that take place at local license offices include renewing or applying for a driver license, renewing or applying for registration on motor vehicles, boats and outboard motors, and applying for titles and paying sales taxes on these units.
