Department of Revenue News Release
March 02, 2009Six More License Offices Go Up For Bid - Creve Coeur, High Ridge, Neosho, Nevada, Platte City & Sedalia
JEFFERSON CITY – The move to a more comprehensive, fair and efficient method to determine the management of local motor vehicle/license offices continued today with bid proposals being released for six more offices.
The six offices are in Creve Coeur, High Ridge, Neosho, Nevada, Platte City and Sedalia.
“One of my first actions as Governor was to fundamentally change how these offices will be awarded,” said Gov. Jay Nixon. “Patronage and politics were the usual reasons people received offices in the past. Now, each office will be bid out, and those who offer the best plans will be chosen to manage the offices.”
People or groups interested in bidding on an office will have five weeks to respond after the Request for Proposal (RFP) is released by the Office of Administration. According to Karen King Mitchell, director of the Missouri Department of Revenue, department personnel who have many years of experience working with local license offices will judge which of the bids is best.
“The criteria we’ll be looking at include the financial stability of the applicant, how accessible and secure a potential site is, how efficient the office will operate, and how customers will be treated,” Mitchell said. “The ultimate goal will be for the offices to be financially sound and to provide excellent customer service to the people getting their license plates and driver licenses.”
