Lexington License Office contract awarded

JEFFERSON CITY - The Office of Administration, in conjunction with the Missouri Department of Revenue, has awarded the management contract for the Lexington License Office to the Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce. All license office contracts in Missouri are awarded through a competitive bid process.

The Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce has been the contractor of the Lexington License Office since 1975. The Lexington License Office will remain at its current location at 1029 Franklin St.

In fiscal year 2013, more than 39,000 transactions were conducted at the Lexington office, generating $131,931 in agent processing fees. The Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce's contract includes an annual commitment to return 2 percent (approximately $2,638) of future processing fees to the state.

All local license offices are overseen by the Missouri Department of Revenue, but each is operated by an independent agent.
