Dept. of Revenue Announces New Agent for Warsaw License Office

JEFFERSON CITY - Connie Siercks will be the new agent for the Warsaw Motor Vehicle and License Office.  The winning proposal was chosen as part of a competitive bidding process that is used for all of Missouri's local license offices.

The winning bid was one of two submitted for the office.  Siercks has been the manager of the Warsaw License Office since 2005.  The office will continue to be at 237 W. Main St.

The management contract for the Warsaw office became open when Wanda Brown announced that she would be stepping down as agent to fulfill her new duties as state representative of the 116th House District.

Any changes in office hours or other operations of the license office will be announced by Siercks.

According to figures from Fiscal Year 2010, there were an estimated 35,838 transactions conducted at the Warsaw office, and it generated about $120,005 in agent processing fees.

Bidders have the option of returning part of the office revenues to the state.  Siercks (doing business as Benton County License Office) submitted a one-half of 1 percent ($600) return to state as part of her bid.  About $1 million is estimated to be returned to the state during the first contract year from all 183 local license offices.

Although the Missouri Department of Revenue implemented the new bidding system in January of 2009 after being authorized to do so by Gov. Jay Nixon, it didn't become part of state law until legislation was signed by the Governor in the summer of 2009. The new law was overwhelmingly approved by both Republican and Democratic members of the Missouri Legislature.

Alana M. Barragán-Scott, director of the Missouri Department of Revenue, said she is pleased the Warsaw office will be undergoing a smooth transition.

"Wanda did a tremendous job as agent of the Warsaw office, and I'm confident that Connie will continue to meet the high standards that have been established," Barragán-Scott said.  "Connie's experience will be a real plus for the citizens of the Benton County and Truman Lake area."

All local license offices provide services that are overseen by the Department of Revenue, but each office is operated by an independent agent.
