Driver License Records

A driver’s record that contains personal information is a closed record and may not be obtained through a Sunshine Law request. §§ 610.021(14), 32.090.3, and 32.091.1(3), RSMo. A person or entity may request a driver record that does not contain the personal information of an individual as defined by 32.091.1(3). Such a record would contain only non-personal driving history, including information such as vehicular accidents, driving violations (e.g., speeding tickets), and the driver’s status.

A person or entity may only access the personal information on a Missouri driver record if they are authorized under §§ 32.091, RSMo, and the federal Driver Privacy Protection Act (DPPA) referenced therein. Please visit the Department’s site for driving records to find more information on how to request your personal driving record, someone else’s driving record, a driver record without personal information, or to make a bulk records request.
