Department of Revenue News Release

The Missouri Department of Revenue has reopened its Kansas City and Springfield tax assistance offices. The Kansas City office is located at 615 E. 13^th St., Room 508B. The Springfield office is located at 149 Park Central Square, Room 328B. Both offices are open to the public from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

“The Department of Revenue is pleased to announce that our Kansas City and Springfield tax assistance offices have reopened, and our staff is available to help customers with their individual and business tax matters,” said Department Director Joel Walters. “For the Department of Revenue, part of providing exceptional customer service means ensuring Missourians have the resources they need to meet their tax obligations. With the Kansas City and Springfield offices once again up and running, taxpayers now have five locations throughout the state they can visit to receive expert, face-to-face tax assistance.”

Tax experts are available to provide assistance with business tax registration, no tax due assistance, accepting payments and accepting completed returns. For other services, such as income tax compliance, corporate income tax questions, and lien/garnishment resolution, customers will be connected with a Department tax employee in Jefferson City. Although individual income tax preparation services are not available, Department employees can help connect customers with the appropriate tax preparation resources.

The Kansas City and Springfield tax assistance offices were two of seven such offices that closed in 2014. The Jefferson City Tax Assistance Office reopened in December 2017, and the St. Louis and Joplin Tax Assistance Office reopened in March 2018. The Joplin office is temporarily closed, but it is expected to reopen in early July. All tax assistance offices are closed on state holidays.
